Todd McLay

Todd McLay is an evolutionary biologist with a background in phylogenetics, genomics, eDNA, and conservation genetics. His research focuses on understanding the evolutionary processes that generate biodiversity, with interests ranging from species relationships and genome evolution to the conservation of threatened plants and using genetic tools for management.

At RBGV, Todd manages the Research branch and collaborates with researchers, government agencies, and partner organisations on projects that improve our understanding of plant diversity. He oversees research spanning evolution, taxonomy, genomics, and conservation, helping to support the management and protection of Australia's flora.
